    What does Split PDF do?

Split PDF takes pages out of a PDF and saves them as new files. You can pull out specific pages or ranges into one new PDF, save every page as its own PDF, or cut the document into equal parts of a few pages each. The pages are copied unchanged, so text, images and quality stay exactly as they were.

    How to use Split PDF

    1. Choose the PDF you want to split. The number of pages is shown below the file name.
    2. Pick a mode: Extract pages into one new PDF (for example 1-3, 7), Split every page into a separate PDF, or Split into parts of a set number of pages.
    3. Press Split PDF. A single result downloads as a PDF; several results download together as a ZIP file.

    When is it useful?

    • Sending only the pages someone needs instead of the whole document.
    • Separating a scanned stack of documents into individual files.
    • Breaking a large PDF into smaller parts to meet an upload size limit.
    • Saving one chapter of an e-book or manual for printing.

    Example

A 20-page PDF split into parts of 5 pages gives four files: pages 1-5, 6-10, 11-15 and 16-20, delivered in one ZIP file. Typing 2, 4-6 in the extract box gives one PDF with pages 2, 4, 5 and 6.

    Good to know

    • Everything happens in your browser, so your PDF is never uploaded to our server. Very large files (hundreds of pages) can take a while on older phones.
    • Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. Remove the password with the program you used to set it, then try again.
    • Page numbers in the range box start at 1. Ranges such as 3- mean "from page 3 to the end".

    Frequently asked questions

    Is Split PDF free?

Yes. You can use it as often as you like without creating an account.

    Are my files uploaded?

No. Split PDF works entirely in your web browser. Your files are read and processed on your own device and are never sent to our server, so nothing is stored.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no fixed limit, but very large files need more memory. If a big file is slow on your phone, try it on a computer.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It runs in any modern browser on a phone, tablet or computer - there is nothing to install.
