Images are compressed in your browser and are never uploaded.
What does Image Compressor do?
Image Compressor reduces the file size of JPG, PNG and WebP images so they load faster and are easier to share. You choose the quality, the output format and, if you like, a maximum width, then compress up to 30 images at once. A table shows the size before and after for each picture.
How to use Image Compressor
- Choose one or more images.
- Set the quality (75% is a good start), the format (JPG or WebP) and optionally a maximum width.
- Press Compress images. Download each image from the table, or all of them as a ZIP file.
When is it useful?
- Making website images smaller so pages load faster.
- Shrinking phone photos before e-mailing or uploading them.
- Meeting the file size limit of online forms and marketplaces.
Example
A 4.2 MB phone photo (4032 × 3024) compressed at 75% with a maximum width of 1920 px typically becomes around 300-500 KB and still looks sharp on screen.
Good to know
- Images are compressed in your browser and never uploaded.
- PNG images are saved as WebP in the default setting because WebP keeps transparency and is usually much smaller. Choose JPG if you need maximum compatibility.
- If an image is already well compressed, the original is kept and marked "already optimal".
Frequently asked questions
Is Image Compressor free?
Yes. You can use it as often as you like without creating an account.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Image Compressor works entirely in your web browser. Your files are read and processed on your own device and are never sent to our server, so nothing is stored.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit, but very large files need more memory. If a big file is slow on your phone, try it on a computer.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It runs in any modern browser on a phone, tablet or computer - there is nothing to install.
