JSON to YAML

Runs in your browser: your files and text never leave your device.

Conversion runs in your browser; your data is not sent anywhere.

What does JSON to YAML do?

JSON to YAML converts JSON data into clean, readable YAML. Objects become indented keys, arrays become lists with dashes, and strings are quoted only when necessary. If the JSON is invalid, the tool shows the error and where it is.

How to use JSON to YAML

  1. Paste your JSON into the left box (an example is loaded).
  2. Press Convert.
  3. Copy the YAML or download it as a .yaml file.

When is it useful?

  • Writing configuration files for Docker, Kubernetes or CI pipelines.
  • Making large JSON responses easier for people to read.
  • Converting API examples for documentation.

Example

{"server": {"port": 8080, "debug": false}} becomes:
server:
  port: 8080
  debug: false

Good to know

  • Conversion runs in your browser; your data is not sent to any server.
  • JSON must use double quotes for keys and text values.
  • Key order is kept as in your JSON.
